Parishes Environmental Group – Greenheal

By now we are all aware of the effects of climate change on our daily lives. In its October 2012 Net Zero strategy the Government said that “devolved and local government play an essential role in meeting national net zero ambitions” because it “is best placed to integrate activity on the ground” and to inspire “action by, local businesses, communities, and civil society”. What can we do about it on a personal basis or even within our own community? A couple of years back the Parishes of Heyshott, Easebourne and Lodsworth established an environmental group working party. It is now time to move things on and hence it has been agreed that the best approach is to establish a brand and ways of raising funding such that we can undertake environmental projects within the parishes.

Firstly, the brand. We have chosen the word ‘GreenHeal’ to represent greening of the parishes of Heyshott, Easebourne And Lodsworth (HEAL). We are currently working on a logo to represent Greenheal with the tag line ‘greening and healing our parishes’. In order to fund environmental projects, we are investigating setting up a charity to allow us to apply for grants and seek funding from local benefactors.

For more information, please look at the PowerPoint presentation which will give you details of the background and the approach we are taking. We will keep you informed of progress and if you have any ideas of environmental projects for the village, please let any of the Parish Councillors know.
